29.10.2011 - Almond Milk Bread Budding

almond milk bread pudding (dairy free)

makes 8 servings

ingredients

    •    1 baguette
    •    2 1/2 cups almond milk
    •    6 large eggs
    •    3 teaspoons vanilla extract
    •    1/2 cup granulated sugar

cut or break bread up and put in containers.

mix eggs, sugar, and vanilla together in bowl.
Add almond milk and mix well.
Fill up dishes.
I normally put about a cup into each, but whatever fills up your dish is fine.
I also like to fill mine as high up as I can, but lots of people prefer less. So it's up to you really.

bake at 350 for about 30-25 minutes, or until the egg is cooked.

as you can see, I used 7 eggs but it was too many in my opinion.

sugar

the first two cups of almond milk

you mixture should look something like this before you put it in the containers

before cooking.

I first served mine with raspberries and dark chocolate shavings but found it wasn't chocolate-y enough for my tastes so then I did them with a whole square of chocolate as well as the berries and that was much better.
But, it'd be good with most things, most noteably whipped cream.
But seeing as these needed to be dairy free for me to be able to eat them, that was out of the question.

A sauce would have been nice to, like caramel, chocolate, or any kind of berry coulis.

-----------------

If you're using regular milk, then I like to add an extra 1/2 cup of sugar since almond milk is fairly sweet. I also like to use half whole milk & half regular, I find the whole part adds a nice texture.
But almond milk is very runny and I had no problems, so I'd say it's up to you.
Also try adding more things too it before baking. Nuts, dried fruit, even chocolate chips would work.

28.10.11

I feel like I did so much today! Which is good, I was a bit worried I would spent a lot of time doing nothing much.
I made a pair of feather earrings, which I failed to take any photos of.
But I'm making another pair tomorrow for a friend of mine, so I'll photograph them and write out instructions. It was much simpler than I anticipated in the end.

I also re strung an amethyst necklace that I bought in a vintage stop a few years ago and broke, gosh, maybe 6 months ago? So pleased with myself!

And I made Dairy Free Almond Bread Pudding! Which I have the recipe for, I'll be posting it tomorrow along with  photos.

And here you go, today's outfit.

Trousers: J. Crew
Shirt: J. Crew (oops, I feel like an add now)
Coat: H&M
Scarf: a small Turkish import shop in the Clocktower Mall in Dockyard, Bermuda.
(that I can't find on their website, so maybe it doesn't exist anymore?
Boots: Blondo
Hair clip: Claire's
Earrings:  I bought the charms at a market and make them into earrings
Necklace: Vintage (but I re strung it today)
Rings: the black one was a gift,
the silver one was thrifted,
and the blue one was an old earring I re made.

I love the whole mini ring trend I've been seeing, I think it's such a lovely detail!

24.10.2011

Long time no blog!
Frankly, I got so busy over the summer with work that I didn't have time to even wear nice cloths, let alone blog about them.
A few things have happened since May.
- I dyed my hair dark blonde/light brown for a while, then dyed it red and cut a fringe a few days ago. I'm loving it so far!
before

after/currently

- I went to my final year of Not Back to School Camp. It was outstanding and I got to see all my best friends and I loved it.
- I quit my job. Which is going to give me tons of time to blog.
- I decided to try to DIY more this winter, that includes learning to sew.

Anyway, there are the few things I'd love for fall.

This lovely dress from ModCloth.

These amazing Dorothy Perkins wedges. I mean look at them! They're not one, but two shades of purple and I love them.

This Sonia Rykiel sweater dress. I'm still obsessed with anything gauze/tulle related and have been trying to figure out how to make it work for fall too.

These H&M wedges. It's a well known fact that I would only wear wedges if possible and these are high on the light of ones I want. You could dress them up or down, they look comfortable (all H&M shoe are, so why not these?) and they have a gold detail!

These Aldo ankle boots. I want a pair of slight 'harder' shoes for fall, these almost fit the bill. If anything I wish they had less heel, but they're pretty great as is.

And with that I hope to get back in the swing of blogging!
